COMCO Investigates Alleged Collusion in Online Printer Accessories and Office Equipment Trade

2023-06-08 05:30:36

Bern, 08.06.2023 – The Competition Commission (COMCO) has opened an investigation into the online trade in printer accessories and office equipment. There are suspicions that wholesalers and e-tailers have colluded on resale prices.

Producers of printer accessories and office equipment distribute their products mainly through wholesalers. These sell the products to, inter alia, online merchants from which consumers and businesses purchase office equipment and printer accessories. COMCO has evidence that two wholesalers of printer accessories and office equipment have influenced the resale prices of various online retailers. As a result, the undertakings concerned may have concluded vertical agreements on prices prohibited by cartel law.

The investigation is directed once morest wholesalers Oridis AG and Ecomedia AG, both of which belong to Office World Group AG.

Searches were carried out at various sites.

As part of the investigation, it will be examined whether there are indeed restrictions of competition prohibited by cartel law. The presumption of innocence applies to businesses.
