Prizma De Talentuin primary school in Lendelede had the nice surprise of winning a day in Plopsaland for the whole school as part of the Bebat competition, as reported by the Nieuwsblad. The problem is that the school does not have the means to pay for the bus to its students to be able to take them there.
This pretty dream might then fall like a soufflé for the students, already impatient to be there. “All trains and buses to De Panne are already full that day. We have found a bus company that agrees to guarantee the transport, but it is very expensive,” school principal Marie Maertens told Nieuwsblad.
“The free day in Plopsaland risks falling through because of this situation. A bus company wants to transport the 420 children and accompanying persons to the amusement park, but it will cost 7,500 euros! Due to the maximum bill, which allows a school to charge a maximum of 50 euros for a preschooler and 95 euros for a primary school pupil, we cannot recover the costs from the parents either. And we don’t want to do that. It is difficult to set up an action quickly; we’re already stuck with the annual pancake sale that’s going on right now. This is why we are looking for sponsors who can help us raise this amount. In exchange, we can offer our sponsors a tax certificate from 40 euros. »
