Oviedo (Spain), June 7 (EFE).- The biologists Jeffrey I. Gordon, and Peter Greenberg and the biochemist Bonnie L. Bassler, the three American researchers recognized this Wednesday with the Princess of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research 2023, expressed their deep gratitude for this recognition through messages disseminated by the Princess of Asturias Foundation.

The three scientists were honored for their progress in understanding the essential role microorganisms play in human health and well-being, and in finding applications in finding effective new treatments once morest antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
