On May 3, 2023, the Minister of Health and Prevention, François Braun, announced the implementation, for the next 18 months, of extensive work, in co-construction with citizens, students and professionals, aiming to rethink the nursing profession as well as the training allowing access to it.
An essential pillar of our health system, the profession of nursing changes with the evolution of techniques and practices, even though the texts governing the profession have not changed for nearly 20 years. A renovation is therefore to be expected. At the same time, a global overhaul of the health system has been started in recent months and the role of the nurse depends on it. an important place within a treatment team.
The time has therefore come to rethink, in depth, the nursing profession, in all its components : skills, training, careers.
This unprecedented work has started on May 26 and should be completed in September 2024. Three main sections will be covered in this exercise:
- Skillsby renewing practices and adopting a more agile approach to the exercise framework,
- Trainingby rethinking the courses or even by strengthening support for students,
- Careersby recognizing expertise and opening up new possibilities for progression and development.
The minister, François Braun, defined a method and first courses of actionwhich will be rolled out until September 2024 by a method of broad consultation and association of all the actors, and according to the next calendar :
- 11 and 12 May 2023 : mobilization of a control group of nursing professionals to initiate/test the co-construction method;
- May 26, 2023 : seminar of launch of the refoundation the nursing profession;
- June 7, 2023 : seminar ofanimation of the network of nursing training institutes ;
- Between July and September 2023 : launch of national consultations ;
- Between June 2023 and June 2024 : consultations with experts, representatives of the professionof all the stakeholders/co-construction/working groups…;
- September 2024 : Implementation renovated studies and a new professional practice framework.
