Madrid (ots/PRNewswire) – Aena has launched Aena Ventures, its open innovation program to accelerate startups that manage to solve a set of strategic business challenges. Open from June 1st to July 31st, the call is aimed at startups and technology companies proposing revolutionary solutions to the current and future challenges of the airport industry.

Die second edition by Aena Ventures is part of Aena’s strategic innovation plan and digital transformation and is designed to drive innovation and capitalize on both technology and new business models, fueling the airport of the future.
In the first call, we received more than 250 proposals from startups of 33 different nationalities. Five of them took part in an acceleration phase in which they received 50,000 euros and were mentored by experts. Today, four of the accelerated projects offer their services at Aena airports.
Five major challenges in the second edition
This edition will focus on five main themes: sustainability, data management, digitization, efficiency and travel experience.
– The airport as destination: Solutions aimed at expanding the options of passengers, escorts and customers in relation to airport procedures, collections and deliveries in airport environments by offering new products, services and experiences.
– Data-backed airport: Solutions aimed at getting to know passengers better, gathering information to further improve airport offerings, increasing sales and optimizing the use of infrastructure.
– Airport efficiency: Solutions and technologies to simplify passenger transit traffic through airport processes.
– Virtual airport: Innovative solutions aiming to provide the necessary technology needed to digitize services, virtualize experiences and create value.
– Greener airport: Solutions and technologies aimed at offsetting flight operations and managing airport infrastructure and resources more efficiently in terms of sustainability and environmental impact.
