The decision of the Secretary of Energy of the Nation to grant the state company Enarsa the operation of the hydroelectric plants whose concessions expire in two months also aroused reactions in the Río Negro government, which requested an urgent meeting with the Minister of Economy of the Nation, Sergio Massa, and the Secretary of Energy, Flavia Royón.
The request was formulated -said the government- “following confirming the decision to transfer the operation of the hydroelectric plants of the Limay and Neuquén rivers to the scope of the Enarsa company,” said the administration of Arabela Carreras in a statement.
Earlier, the governor of Neuquén, Omar Gutiérrez, had criticized this decision in very harsh terms.
«The position of the province as the owner of the shared resource with the other provinces, is clear regarding the need to “approve” all kinds of decisions that involve the management of water from multipurpose uses, located in the Limay and Neuquén rivers, seeking to optimize uses such as flood control, human consumption, irrigation, industrial, and electric power generation,” the government communicated in a very brief message.
“The Government of Río Negro reiterated the request to advance in an understanding that provides for the concession of the plants in the public sphere and shared between the Nation (as owner of the works) and the provinces (owners of the water),” he insisted.
What Royón did was a simple communication to the head of Enarsa so that, on August 11 of this year, when three of the five concessions expire, that company will take over all the responsibilities that the private companies that manage the concession now have.
