COPENHAGEN (AP) — A group of climate activists said Wednesday that they have blew the air out of the tires of several SUVs in the Danish capital. Police reported that more than 100 vehicles were vandalized.

“We are defending ourselves once morest climate change, air pollution and dangerous drivers,” the group calling itself Tire Extinguishers claimed on its website. The group is also active in other countries.

Copenhagen police asked for the support of witnesses to help them “investigate the vandalism and we would like to hear from citizens who have seen something” on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

Police spokesman Martin Kajberg told the Ekstra Bladet newspaper that it was difficult to say exactly how many vehicles were affected until all those affected report it. He added that they found a note in one of the cars, but did not report what was written on it.

The affected cars were both gasoline and electric SUVs, the Kosmopol TV channel reported.

Information from Tire Extinguishers on Twitter states: “We will make it impossible to have an SUV in urban areas of the world.” The group claims to have carried out similar actions before puncturing the tires of trucks in the United States and Europe.
