Christian Bégin is recovering better. For the first time since the surgery he underwent in March, the actor gave news. Here is the message he shared this morning.

“Montreal, June 7, 2023

On March 29, following a providential scan prompted by recurring headaches, I underwent major brain surgery. The formidable CHUM neurosurgery team led by the larger-than-life Dr. Michel W. Bojanowski removed a benign but worrying tumor whose presence required rapid intervention and a minimum of two months off work. .

Everything went extremely well. I was in the hands of an exceptional team of the highest caliber, well surrounded, well loved and now I am out of danger and I am getting back in the saddle wisely and surely.

With unspeakable joy, I took my chair back at “Y’a du Monde À ‘Messe” on May 31 for the last 6 episodes of our 7th season, in addition to filming our Holiday Special in November.

I would like to affectionately thank André Robitaille for having so generously accepted to replace me during my absence. A challenge he took up – are we surprised?! – with grace, elegance and brilliance.

Thanks also to Télé-Québec (Nicole Sauvageau, Virginie Langlois), to the entire YAMM team (Mylène Ferron, Marie-France Bazzo, Annie Spencer) for your understanding and your unwavering support.

Thank you also to the public of “faithful” who also showed great concern for me during this trying situation.

I also resumed filming the 16th season of Curieux Bégin with the same joy. A season that will see its number of episodes more than double since we will shoot 25 shows.

Once once more, thank you to Télé-Québec, Zone 3 (Brigitte Lemonde), Luc Rousseau, dedicated and accommodating producer, and to the entire production team who showed great flexibility and understanding and who have so kindly accompanied me.

Infinite gratitude also to Louis Morissette and Véronique Trépanier from KO scene as well as to the whole team around my show “The Eight Deadly Sins according to Christian Bégin” (René Brisebois, Chantal Lamarre)

A test like this invites reflection.

In this regard, it is with reluctance that I announce the cancellation of the remainder of my tour. A difficult decision for me but dictated by the demands of a show alone on stage.

Thank you to all those who believed in me, who trusted me in this project and who bought tickets thus showing their support.

An immeasurable thank you to Maxime Vanasse and the entire team at MVA for your unwavering trust, your total respect and your unconditional support through it all.

I’m fine, my head is full of projects and I’m really happy to find my way back to work and above all the people who make it so necessary, stimulating and meaningful. Again. More than ever.

Thank you to everyone, colleagues, comrades, friends, loved ones, family, members of the public for your immense support, your great concern and your reassuring understanding.

My lover who changes EVERYTHING often tells me: ‘You are loved my boyfriend!’

And the air of nothing, it helps a lot, it gives breath, momentum, meaning…

I’m back. All is well summer. Piece by bit…

Christian Bégin
