Germany has increased its tomato imports from Morocco over the last 5 years by 73.16%, once morest a drop in demand for production from Spain and the Netherlands (-19.09% and -26.31%). The kingdom is thus placed as 3e Germany’s supplier, and might well overtake Spain at this level.
According to data from Hortoinfo, Germany imported a total of 633.59 million kilos of tomatoes worth 1,462.56 million euros, at an average price of 2.31 euros per kilo.
The main supplier of this vegetable on the German market in 2022 was the Netherlands, with a volume of 292.9 million kilos, 104.6 million kilos less than five years ago (-26.1%), which were sold for a value of 712.06 million euros, at an average price of 2.43 euros per kilo.
The volume of tomatoes sold by Spain in 2022 on the German market was 152.64 million kilos, 36.1 million less than in 2018 (-19.09%). The value of the sale of Spanish tomatoes to Germany in 2022 was 348.17 million euros, with an average price of 2.28 euros per kilo.
