Oman and Saudi Arabia Discuss Joint Tourism Initiatives and Unified Visa – Latest News and Updates

Muscat: Oman and Saudi Arabia have discussed the possibility of launching a unified tourist visa and a joint tourism calendar as part of mutual efforts to enhance tourism cooperation. Saudi Arabian Tourism Minister Ahmed Aqeel Al Khatib discussed these matters in a meeting with Oman Heritage and Tourism Minister Salim Muhammad Al Mahrooqi the other day. The meeting also launched initiatives aimed at attracting international tourists and residents of the GCC countries. Both sides decided to activate trade and investment cooperation to promote projects in the tourism sector besides supporting travel and tourism entrepreneurs of both countries.

In the meeting, it was also agreed to start joint tourism initiatives in the areas of promotion, marketing, tourism activation, tourism regulations, cooperation in the field of air connectivity and seasonal flights.

Both sides also agreed on joint programs in the fields of camping and adventure tourism, a calendar of joint tourism programs and a program to support small and medium enterprises in the tourism sector. According to statistics, the number of tourists from Saudi Arabia to Oman reached regarding 49,000 in the first quarter of this year. Compared to the same period in 2022, there has been a growth of 92 percent.

However, in the first quarter of this year, 1,64,000 tourists came from Oman to Saudi Arabia. Compared to the previous year, there has been an increase of 136 percent.
