Ford will launch the new generation of its compact Transit Courier later this year. A fully electric variant has also been announced for the end of next year. Above all, the compact delivery van has become larger. The loading volume increases by a quarter compared to the predecessor to 2.9 cubic meters. This means that the new model generation can take two Euro pallets on board for the first time.
The loading width between the rear wheel arches increases due to a
newly designed rear wheel suspension to 1.22 meters, the length of the cargo compartment increases by 18 centimeters to 1.80 meters. In conjunction with the new hatch in the partition wall and the fold-down front passenger seat, it can also be enlarged so that boards or pipes up to 2.6 meters long can be loaded if necessary. the van itself is 4.34 meters long.
The E-Transit Courier can load up to 700 kilograms and tow trailers weighing up to 750 kilograms. In the front there is a 44 liter storage compartment that offers space for the charging cable or other small items. At a fast charging station, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent battery charge in less than 35 minutes. The E-Transit Courier can be charged from 10 to 100 percent in just under six hours using an 11 kW connection.
The engine has an output of 100 kW (136 hp) and enables a top speed of 145 km/h as well as one-pedal driving. The cockpit consists of a 12-inch digital display and a 12-inch touchscreen. With the “Office Package” the driver’s cab can be transformed into a mobile office.
The variants with a combustion engine have a payload of up to 678 kilograms, which can be increased to 845 kilograms. The petrol engine has a trailer load of one ton, the diesel can pull 100 kilos more.
Ford has not yet given any information on the prices of all models and the range of the e-transit. (awm)
