The supervisory teams of the National Program for Combating the Commercial Concealment carried out inspection tours of Al-Azizia markets for vegetables and fruits in Riyadh, at three in the morning. This is to verify the establishments’ compliance with the approved market rules, and to detect crimes and violations of the anti-concealment system.
The campaign, in which a number of ministries of trade, human resources and social development, environment, water, agriculture and others participated, resulted in the detection of suspected cases of concealment and 158 violations of trade, municipality, labor, residence and transportation regulations.
The supervisory teams seized workers engaged in activities contrary to the nature of their work that are recorded in the work permits, and establishments operating without municipal licenses. Vehicles transporting vegetables were also seized without valid or expired operating cards.
It also seized violations of not proving ownership of goods loaded in vehicles, failure to provide approved safety conditions and requirements, and other violations.
The program stated that the violating establishments were summoned, and the violators were referred to the competent authorities to impose regular penalties once morest them, which amount to 5 years imprisonment, a fine of 5 million riyals, and the seizure and confiscation of illegal funds following final court rulings were issued once morest those involved.
The statutory penalties also include closing the facility, liquidating the activity, striking off the commercial register, preventing them from practicing commercial activity, collecting zakat, fees and taxes, in addition to deporting the concealed persons from the Kingdom, and not allowing them to return to work.
