A man in his 40s who assaulted a neighbor for no apparent reason has been arrested.
Gyeonggi Gunpo Police Station announced on the 6th that it had arrested a man in his 40s on charges of assault.
Mr. A is accused of assaulting Mr. B, a woman in her twenties, with her fists and feet in an apartment complex in Sanbon-dong, Gunpo-si on the 5th around midnight. Mr. A ran away following her crime and was caught by a villager who came out following hearing Mr. B’s screams.
During the police investigation, Mr. A was reported to have stated, “I did it because I thought Mr. B was swearing.”
Mr. A also hit a man in his 30s in the face with a book at a nearby convenience store before assaulting Mr. B and then ran away.
The police applied for an arrest warrant following determining that Mr. A was at high risk of recidivism. The court issued a warrant on the same day, saying, “There is a risk of destroying evidence and fleeing.”
