Already dubbed the “Foodstagram diet,” looking at lots of food photos would make you feel full.

As summer approaches, thousands of people are on a diet to feel more comfortable on the beach. In this area, there are a multitude of programs and menus to follow. However, regular physical activity and a varied and balanced diet remain the keys to good health and long-term weight loss.

However, original tips can help avoid temptations and cravings. And one of them, even if it is very surprising, might help you while enjoying one of your favorite social networks: Instagram.

Two Danish and Chinese researchers conducted an unusual experiment on satiety using pictures of food. Their findings were recently shared in the specialist journal Appetite and they may surprise you.

A technique to mislead the brain and generate a feeling of satiety

For this experiment, the researchers called on two groups of 200 volunteers. Initially, the first group was invited to look at the photo of a bowl of M&M’s. The operation was then repeated twice and then the researchers questioned the volunteers regarding their condition.

Secondly, the same experiment was proposed to the second group of volunteers. But unlike the first guinea pigs, the latter had to look at this photo of food 30 times. Finally, the researchers asked the volunteers how they felt following the 30 viewings.

The volunteers in the first group wanted to eat sweets following viewing the photos. But the most amazing thing is that the second group was not hungry following the experience. Even more surprising: they experienced less pleasure in eating these sweets the following times.

Several pictures of food needed for this trick to work

This unusual reaction would actually be completely normal. Indeed, the area of our brain linked to satiety is stimulated in the same way when we eat but also when we believe we are eating. By looking at chain photos of food, our brain is tricked into sending signals to our body that it is full.

In addition, this trick has the advantage ofbe easy to make, accessible to everyone and completely free. But beware: for it to be really effective, you have to look at pictures of food until you no longer feel hungry.
