A Musical Evening in the Castle Courtyard: Songs from Austria to Scotland

2023-06-06 13:45:00

Special thanks went to the Seilern-Aspang family, since the concert took place in the castle courtyard once more. The Litschau/Lainsitztal hunting horn group, led by Robert Thür, opened the evening with the Jägermarsch. The program was also later loosened up by contributions from the hunting horn players. The choir started its performance with the “Waldviertler Wald”. Gerald Zeller was the soloist. The program then offered a lot: from folk songs from Austria and Scotland to melodies by Gastoldi and Friderici, by Hubert von Goisern, Cat Stevens, an Indian traditional regarding the English madrigal – there was something for every taste on this evening.

In addition, under the direction of Christa Göd and Gerhard Wendl, “Lovesickness is not worth it” was sung, as was Verdi’s “La donna e mobile”. Renate Wendl led through the program. At the end, little Marie-Luise Seilern-Aspang and Mayor Rainer Hirschmann were congratulated on their birthdays. Members of the Litschau Music and Singing Society were honored by the Singing Circle Chairman Eduard Danzinger. The federal bronze medal went to Hermine Arnberger, Margarete Breinhölder, Erika Gieler and Christa Nitsch. Gerald Zeller was awarded the silver federal medal.

The golden federal medal was presented to Eva Biedermann, Stephan Göd, Annemarie Heimbach, Erich Piringer and Eva Schalko. Christa Göd received the choirmaster’s pin in gold. Eduard Danzinger presented a special award to deputy chairman Rupert Weinstabl – namely the gold badge of honor of the singers’ association.
