The Kahouka Dam is located in southern Ukraine.

Ukrainian authorities said 16,000 people downstream were at risk from a dam explosion.
Both countries are claiming each other’s responsibility for the dam bombing.
Ukrainian President Zelensky immediately called an emergency meeting of the National Security Council and condemned Russia.
Ukraine claimed that Russia blew it up to benefit the war, saying it was “environmental genocide” and endangered the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant near the dam.
However, the Russian side immediately replied that ″a dam controlled by the Russian army was destroyed″ and that it was a ″terrorist attack by Ukraine″.
First of all, the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant is known to be safe.
However, there are concerns that if another part of the dam is destroyed, as in the lock gate of Kahouka Dam, where the explosion situation was filmed in real time in November last year, the damage to the residents downstream will be very great.
The two sides are saying completely different things regarding the engagement in the southern and eastern regions, which seem to be the prelude to a great counteroffensive.
The Russian Ministry of Defense today claimed the destruction of 28 Ukrainian tanks, including eight German tanks, in the Donetsk region of southern Ukraine.
It also said that the total losses of the Ukrainian armed forces exceeded 1,500 people.
However, a spokesperson for Ukraine countered that “we do not have such information and do not comment on fake news of any kind.”
Prigozin, the head of the Wagner group of mercenaries on the Russian side, also denied the Russian side, saying that the claim that the Ukrainian offensive was repulsed for two days in a row was “science fiction.”
