The Libyan source, who refused to reveal his identity, indicated that there is great pressure from regional and international parties on the presidencies of Parliament and the State Council to move forward towards achieving the constitutional framework and electoral laws in agreement with all Libyan parties without marginalization or exclusion, pointing to the existence of reservations with the Speaker of Parliament regarding some The provisions contained in the laws of the presidential elections and the National Assembly, pointing to the postponement of announcing the date of signing the agreement before it is fully reviewed by the two chambers and agreed upon.
The source pointed out that the division that appeared between some parliamentarians and the State Council over the consensus of the “6 + 6” committee raised the fears of the presidencies of Parliament and the Supreme Council of State that their role in any future political process would be marginalized, in light of the presence of active movements led by the UN envoy to Libya, Abdullah Batili. To form a high-level committee to arrange for presidential and legislative elections in the country.

The “6 + 6” committee agreed to hold parliamentary elections next December and presidential elections in January 2024, provided that parliamentary elections will be held with 60% for parties and 40% for individuals, while not allowing those who have a judicial ruling or wanted for justice to run for elections and allow the candidacy of the military and their return to service in case They did not win, and dual nationals also renounced their nationality if they passed the second stage or won.
