Although the Metaverse has quickly fallen into decline, with many technology giants slowing down their bets in this area to focus on artificial intelligence, we cannot deny that there is still a niche market to be explored that can yield good results in the future, mainly in the field business.
In addition to Virtual Reality, we also have Augmented Reality, which allows you to see and manipulate digital objects in the real world through devices that support this technology, such as Microsoft’s HoloLens.
With that in mind, Apple decided to create its own mixed reality glasses, which offer a new option for exploring this universe, but carrying the Apple DNA.
In recent months, several rumors spoke regarding the specifications and even the price of the new Vision Pro, but the company finally ended speculation with the announcement made at WWDC 2023.
Featuring two internal lenses capable of playing content in 4K resolution and an external OLED monitor, the device arrives to position itself in the premium augmented reality market.
As the first Apple device with a 3D camera, the Vision Pro enables 3D image capture with Spatial Audio, which allows for much more accurate recording of memories.
Featuring a design inspired by “ski goggles”, similar to Sony’s PS VR2, the device fits perfectly on the user’s face, also featuring head adjustment straps and focus control, which greatly helps users who have some kind of visual impairment.
Another highlight is its 96W magnetic cable charging, which powers the external 0000 mAh battery, which has regarding two hours of autonomy.
All this technology built into the headset works in conjunction with the external cameras, which are used for features such as manual tracking and gesture control. Part of that includes being able to type on air with a virtual keyboard.
The external cameras and external screen also serve to track people around you and indicate when you’re not looking at them directly or project an image of your eyes so you can carry on a natural conversation as if you weren’t wearing the glasses.
As expected, games and entertainment are at the core of this new device, which is great news for enthusiasts of this technology.
Speaking of entertainment, the device offers a range of tools for playing movies and series, which turn any place into a portable movie theater, even including the playback of 3D content.
Another surprise is that in addition to augmented reality, which brings digital elements to the real world, we also have an immersion function, which allows you to create an immersive digital environment, which can be expanded or reduced by touching the digital scroll on the device.
Even without the need for an additional device, you can control Vision Pro with simple hand movements or voice commands with Siri integration.
For even greater accuracy, Vision Pro also works in conjunction with Apple’s Bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
Operational system
As you would expect, a new device also requires dedicated software. In conjunction with the presentation of the new Vision Pro, Apple also presented the new visionOS, which makes the most of the internal components of the device and conveys the essence of Apple design for mixed reality.
price and availability
All of that Apple Vision Pro innovation can be yours for a fraction of US$ 3.500 (~BRL 17,300). Apple intends to launch the device in early 2024, starting in the United States.
