While in Together for Change the incorporation of Juan Schiaretti into the national campaign is being discussed following a public request from presidential candidate Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, some historic Peronist leaders from Córdoba they consider that the governor moved away from the principles established by José Manuel De la Sota that allowed 24 consecutive years of power in the province.
One of those leaders is Carlos Caserio, current vice president of Banco Nación and former head of Schiaretti’s campaign. “Since 1999, We always knew that we had to have a Cordoba-style Peronism, but it never occurred to De la Sota or his team that we had to stop being Peronists to continue governing”, he stated to CORDOBA PROFILE.
The former senator acknowledged some time ago that the break with Schiaretti occurred due to the governor’s agreement with Mauricio Macri. From the moment, Caserio became a benchmark of the Frente de Todos in Córdoba.
“The difference with him is ideological. For me, right-wing liberal Peronism does not exist in Argentina, I never considered it a force that was within the popular camp. We all work to have a different Peronism in Córdoba, but as long as it is Peronism. Today Schiaretti does not represent Peronism in Córdoba or in Argentinahe declared.
Caserio said that the governor of Córdoba “moved away from Delasotism” and that now “the companions of the Cordovan PJ They are realizing that Schiaretti’s Peronism is not what they want”.
“De la Sota always reinvented himself permanently, but It was never discussed whether we should stop being Peronists or if we are going to join a liberal or right-wing force”, he indicated, in obvious reference to the rapprochement between the Cordovan president and the Buenos Aires head of government.
More than a flirt
According to Caserio, the eventual landing of Schiaretti in Together for Change would be due to “a need” for Horacio Rodríguez Larreta to add the structure that the governor of Córdoba has in the province “To be able to be in a better position to discuss within Together for Change”.
“So, it seems to me that both things happen, Schiaretti’s willingness to join Together for Change and also a need for Larreta to strengthen himself,” he reaffirmed.
The former minister acknowledged that “in national Peronism we can have differences between us,” but “we will never be in a place where it is liberal and anti-Peronist.”
Triumph in Cosquín
The former senator celebrated this Sunday night the electoral victory of Raúl Cardinali in Cosquín, together with the candidate for governor of the Frente de Todos in Córdoba, Federico Alesandri. This electoral triumph allowed Caserio to demonstrate the political muscle that he maintains in Punilla.
A great joy to have recovered the municipality of Cosquín. We won it from Socialism allied to Schiarettismo, a demonstration that we Peronists can. Convictions always win. pic.twitter.com/aDjcRv4yuS
