El’biete is dead! The Montois and Saint-Georges overcame the dragon during the so-called “Lumeçon” fight. Like every year, many friends or families gathered to fight together and try to catch as much horsehair as possible. This is the case of the “Crins Rien” which were more than 140 to participate directly or indirectly in the fight. A love for the ducasse which was born from four friends from Mons, ready to introduce their friends to their folklore.
Over the years, the friends have gone from 4 to several dozen to now be 140 for this ducasse. A large group that brings together residents of Brussels, Mons and Belgians from all over the country with the aim of obtaining maximum horsehair but above all enjoying a family and friendly moment. “Our group was born in 2011. We were then four friends to live the fight each on our side. We then said to ourselves that it would be interesting for us to come together to experience the fight together. One thing leading to another, friends and friends of friends joined us to now be 140”, indicates Jérémy Henry, president of the Crins nothing.
140 members who, however, do not all participate in the fight. “In the 140 members, we obviously find children and women who do not necessarily come to fight. When we come back to see them, we obviously share the hair we got. The spirit of the Ducasse wants everyone to be able to obtain their hair, it is also our goal. We mainly participate in the fight to have a good time with friends”, continues Jérémy Henry.
In their group of friends, not everyone comes from Mons, so some advice is given to novices so that they experience the ducasse as best as possible. “We don’t have a specific objective in terms of items or horsehair obtained. We mainly want to have a good time”, explains Jérémy Henry. “For friends not coming from Mons, we advise them to stay in the company of a native to be better guided. For the rest, they just have to enjoy.”
A fight called “Lumeçon” which once more attracted crowds, all under a blazing sun. The principal is acquired since el’biete is dead. Ein v’la co pou ein an!
