Netflix has now ended account sharing. If the policy is controversial, those who want to stay on Netflix will sometimes have to transfer their profile to a new account. Here’s how.
With the end of Netflix account sharing, for those who benefited from this sharing, there are two main options provided by the streaming service, unless you definitively give up Netflix: the payment of an additional via the “additional subscriber” function or transfer to a new full account.
Note that if the Netflix service was obtained via a broader subscription, such as Proximus TV, then the option to pay extra will simply not exist.
So if you find yourself in this situation, here is the procedure to follow.
The profile transfer feature must be activated prior to any transfer operation. To do this, go to your Netflix profile. In the submenu of your profile icon, you will find the option to transfer profiles.
Clicking profile transfer, Netflix will redirect you to another page for transfer. After a short explanatory text, the first step will be to enter an e-mail address and a password of your choice.
After that, you will have to select the type of subscription that suits you according to your budget or preferences. The only real change made by the type of Netflix subscription selected is in the quality of the image. There is therefore no need to take out a premium subscription if you are content to watch your series on a smartphone, for example.
Unless you want to share your account! Because the essential formula does not allow additional subscriber functionality. And the number of additional subscribers available remains limited to one for the standard plan and two for the premium plan.
Finally, you will be prompted to select your payment method and complete the transaction. Once you’ve done this and created your profile, the owner of your old account will be notified by email of your departure, in case you haven’t already notified them yourself.
