The Prime Minister had fallen off his bike the day before and had been admitted to hospital for tests.
“Thank you for your messages. I’m home,” he said in his video. “Fortunately, I had a helmet and my son called the emergency services. I would like to thank the emergency services of UZ Gent (University Hospital Ghent). Thank you for the care this night. Sport is good for your health, but sometimes you have to be a little careful…”, he concluded.
The Prime Minister fell on his bike on Saturday in the late followingnoon while he was walking with his son. Falling on his head, he lost consciousness for a few moments. The accident occurred a few hundred meters from his home in Brakel (East Flanders).
This accident will have no impact on his agenda for next week, assures his cabinet. On Monday, Alexander De Croo is notably expected at 5:00 p.m. in the Chamber for an exchange of views in the joint Committee on External Affairs and the Constitution on the release of Olivier Vandecasteele. This will be the first time that the head of the federal government will speak on this subject before the deputies.
