The Buffalo Sabers confirmed their strong form in the LAOLA1 LIVE game once morest the Carolina Hurricanes and put pressure on their direct competition in the fight for the last playoff spots.

Mittelstadt (5th) gives Buffalo an early lead, but a double strike within a few seconds by Jarvis (15th) and Fast (15th) turns the game in the first third in favor of the Hurricanes. In the second third, the former number 1 pick Rasmus Dahlin (25th) first managed to equalize before Aho (32nd) put the “Canes” back in the lead.

With 85 points, the Sabers still need help in the Eastern Conference wild-card race to catch the playoff-seeded Florida Panthers and New York Islanders (89 points each). In addition, Buffalo has one more game to play.

Sidney Crosby has achieved another milestone in the NHL. The living legend of the Pittsburgh Penguins scored two goals and one assist in Saturday’s 5-1 away win over the Detroit Red Wings, becoming the 15th player to reach 1,500 points in the North American Ice Hockey League.

Wayne Gretzky (2,857 points) heads the all-time list of the best, while 35-year-old Crosby is the most successful active professional ahead of Alexander Owetschkin (1,484).

Just before the end of the first period, Crosby sent a backhander past Wings goaltender Ville Husso, and a late-period power play goal sealed his day’s work. In between, the Canadian had done the preparatory work for Danton Heinen to make it 3-0 in the middle third.
