On Friday, a parcel delivery man had his service vehicle stolen, and all the parcels it contained, in Seriang. The victim was delivering packages to a private individual. He had left his van unlocked with the keys in the ignition to walk the few meters that separated him from the address to which he was to make the delivery.
Neither one nor two, an individual slipped into the van and fled with it. A witness who had witnessed the scene briefly chased the thief who then abandoned the stolen vehicle at the curb. He thus continued his escape on foot in the nearby woods. The Seraing-Neupré police arrived on the scene and the fugitive was arrested shortly following.
The suspect was released overnight. After having been heard on this theft by the Sérésien investigators, he was referred, Saturday morning, to the parquet floor of Liège where the magistrate on duty seized the investigating judge.
Already under mandate
And for good reason, the suspect was already under arrest warrant for other facts. However, he had received an electronic bracelet as an alternative to preventive detention. These new facts may well undermine this measure of favor recently granted. This would therefore mean a return to prison.
