As the closing of the basilica approached, a man of Polish nationality, in a visibly altered emotional state, approached the altar, quickly undressed and jumped on the marble.

Arrested and expelled from Italian territory

On his back, he had written in marker:Save the Children of Ukraine” in English. He did not shout or resist the first guards who hastened to take him down and dress him, as well as to the Vatican gendarmes who took him to the offices for identification. Immediately followingwards, in accordance with the rules of the Italy-Holy See Treaty (part of the Lateran Pacts, 1929), the individual was handed over by the Vatican authorities to the Italian police, and was notified of an obligation to leave the territory.
