Wöginger: “More and more companies are giving in to the Chancellor’s announcement on energy prices”

The domino effect has started, inflation is being fought at its roots

Vienna (OTS) “Following the Chancellor’s clear statement on energy prices, more and more companies are giving in and passing on the lower prices to their customers. The announcement of a profit skimming is having an effect. As Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer rightly said: We will not allow ourselves to be put on paper. It is unacceptable for companies to make a fortune while billing Austrians disproportionately high. The news of the past few days, which show that a trend reversal has been initiated, is all the more gratifying. Verbund boss Strugl also announced today that existing customers will still be charged lower electricity prices in June and that prices for new customers will also be lowered. Federal Chancellor Karl Nehammer managed to achieve a double relief effect with one measure. The Austrian population will be relieved and at the same time inflation will be dampened even more,” says the chairman of the People’s Party, August Wöginger.

“The domino effect has started, inflation is being fought at its root – energy costs – with the clear announcement made by the chancellor. The figures show that inflation is at its lowest since June 2022 and the downward trend continues steadily. This development will soon be noticeable in the wallets of Austrians,” Wöginger continued, who finally emphasized: “While the measures taken by the federal government are curbing inflation, the Kickl-FPÖ makes the mistake of taking the wrong countries as a model – Hungary, for example, where inflation is at record highs. Herbert Kickl didn’t understand economic policy or simply doesn’t want to understand it. Because with his proposals we would not be able to see a downward trend in inflation, but we would be caught in a steadily rising inflation spiral together with Hungary.”
