Silver scissors in one hand, pale pink ribbon in the other, the members of the Third Breath and Jeanne Barseghian inaugurated, this Friday at the end of the followingnoon, the brand new version of the municipal cinema. From this weekend, the Cosmos invites the public to come and discover its galaxy through a first cycle of programming dedicated to “Beautiful teams”.
“We dreamed of it, the Cosmos made it”
More than a hundred people, including partners, members of the municipality, but also the curious were present to enter the first in the mythical room of 3 rue des Francs-Bourgeois and attend the first screening for more than a year. “It’s a very good moment, the project is coming true and we can finally share it with the public”, rejoices Joël Therin, founding member of Le Trois Souffle.
In the hall, completely redone, volunteers in flocked pink T-shirts direct the spectators. “It’s a very special way to rediscover this cinema, which I used to go to before it closed,” smiles Elsa, 34, happy to lend a hand. Once all these little people are seated in the red armchairs of the large room, the mayor speaks: “We dreamed of a place open to the world and to the other, capable of welcoming all profiles, all movements, all disciplines. We dreamed of it and the Cosmos team did it! “, she congratulates. Before affirming its desire to defend the freedom of programming of cultural places in reaction to the speech of Laurent Wauquiez who recently shook up the world of culture.
“I still find it difficult to achieve, but I am proud to be here today, because it is the result of a lot of work, in particular to offer another way of bringing cinema to life in a more collective way”, explains Catherine Mueller, president of the cinema. If a first part of the programming has already been revealed, the Cosmos team plans to adjust the offer and the projects thanks to the feedback from the public.
Festive weekend in perspective
Clap of departure, the reel is launched. On the screen are linked the images of the short film Controlled Skid by Françoise Romand then documentary In our hands by Mariana Otero.
Throughout this inaugural weekend, 31 films will be screened in the two theaters; screenings interspersed with festive moments, such as a DJ set followed by a drag show on Saturday night.
