After just under three hours of racing and 100 kilometers covered, it was Caledonian Rayann Lacheny who won the first stage of the 2023 French Overseas Cycling Championship.
“It’s thanks to my teammates that we were able to do a great performance“, underlined the winner with humility. “I was the victim of a mechanical problem, it was quite complicated but we gave everything we might, on this tiring course which does not give a gift“, he added.
The reaction of Caledonian Rayann Lacheny, questioned by Loreleï Aubry following his victory during the first stage.
To get there, we had to fight in particular with the riders from Guadeloupe and Martinique, sharp despite the time difference. An excellent form which is reflected in the ranking: among the top ten, we find four Guadeloupeans and three Martiniquais.
No trace, however, of Guyanese Dilhan Will in the Top 10. The cyclist was however one of the favorites, he who had won the championship last year.

The winner of the day will have to try not to relax tomorrow, with a new stage on the program: that of the Col des Roussettes this Sunday. “The important thing is that Rayann does his race, that he is well ahead. I think he can do very well. He will be present without worry“, estimated the former cyclist Jérôme Bonnace on our antenna.
It will also be necessary to keep forces in reserve for the final test in the followingnoon, that of the time trial over nearly 20 kilometers. The finish will take place on the Deva domain, in Bourail.
