Twitch is currently in open war with Kick, the streaming platform born last January and which has been enjoying dazzling success for a few months following the arrival of giant streamers like Trainwrecks and Adin Ross. And, in his attempt to sign Hispanic content creators, Kick tried to sign Blondes with a luxury item that is only available in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

An overpriced gift

During one of his streams last week, Rubius joked that he was going on Kick because of an offer that very few people might match: an emerald butterfly knife worth more than 20,000 euros. On its Twitter account, the platform has shown that it is ready to do anything to attract Rubius, but it seems that this is not enough for the Norwegian.

A few days later, the content creator commented on the situation live: “I don’t know why Kick tweeted this to me yesterday. They’re trying to buy me off with a knife”comments Rubius with a laugh, while returning a counter-offer a little more difficult to obtain: “If you want me, you’ll have to send me one of these knives a day for two years”. Or, in other words, regarding 14.5 million dollars over two years.

Rubius has previously said that his place is on Twitch and Youtube, and that he believes the resurgence of other platforms such as Kick isn’t viable in the long term. The biggest example of this? Facebook Gaming or Mixer, which had to close their doors following several years of recruiting trendy streamers such as Ninja, Shroud or Lolito.

Kick, a serious competitor or not?

Kick is still far from being as popular as Twitch but some assure it: it is possible to make more money with fewer subs. An opportunity that might well attract young content creators new to streaming and wishing to have enough money to do their job. The main argument, which is put forward by the company, is that unlike Twitch and its upcoming 50/50, Kick offers 95/5 revenue sharing.

For now, most of the most popular streamers in the world are still in contract with Twitch. Many Kick supporters are certain, however, that when 50/50 is implemented, many will favor Easygo Gaming’s platform. The fate of Twitch is now in the hands of its figureheads!
