Two years following launching its mobile game platform, Netflix has greater ambitions in the field of video games. This had already been announced last November.
We learned today regarding the recruitment of Raf Grassettithe former artistic director of God of War Ragnarokto work on the first AAA game project made in Netflix.
Netflix doesn’t do things by halves. For its first big budget game, the company has surrounded itself with some of the most influential talent in the video game industry.
- Joseph Statena Bungie and Microsoft veteran, has joined the team as creative director.
- Jerry Edsallwho worked on Gears of War 4 & 5, has been recruited for the position of technical director.
- Finally, Chacko Sonny, the producer of Overwatch, has been named studio director.
This move by Netflix reveals the growing importance that the streaming giant places on video games in its growth strategy. Since launching its mobile gaming platform two years ago, the company has shown its commitment to developing increasingly diverse content offerings for its users.
