“They showed an unspeakable nerve.” This is the caption of two photos of pounded grass, posted on Facebook by Adrian Haggenmacher, a farmer in Meilen (ZH). “How can you do such a thing? he continues. On the one hand, it is a private property whose grass is used as fodder for animals. On the other hand, the destroyed surface is part of a biodiversity surface of 1.6 hectares, on which we must not walk.

Indeed, this field is used to promote the diversity of animal and plant species. As a result, the way and the time when these surfaces can be worked are regulated between the farmer, the municipality and the canton.

The grower must let the surface rest until June 15th. If he had been asked for permission, he would have made another place available. “It’s not the first time a photo shoot has taken place on my property,” he adds.

It turned out: the people who stomped on the grass did so during a wedding photo shoot. “The couple called me and apologized. They say they do not know that they were not allowed to enter the field. The peasant doubts this excuse. “I think most people know that you can’t step onto private land. But they don’t care. Quite simply.”
