The provincial final of the science popularization and communication competition Science POP, organized under the auspices of the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé, was held on May 27 and 28 at the Montreal Clinical Research Institute (IRCM).

In front of a delighted audience, the event brought together the finalists from 15 Quebec research institutions in high-level contests, following which nine winners of three separate challenges were selected.

Here are the winners of the University of Montreal.

Mobilization challenge

For this challenge, it was a question of presenting a project aimed at the well-being and health of the population of Quebec.

Students from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine and IRCM members Yiran Chen and Easin Uddin Syed won second prize.

Valuation Challenge

The objective for the participants was to make their research project shine by emphasizing its innovative aspect and its spin-offs.

Clara Ziane, doctoral student in psychology at UdeM and member of BRAMS, the International Laboratory for Research on the Brain, Music and Sound, won the second prize as well as the Audience Prize.

Extension Challenge

This challenge asked the candidates to show pedagogy and creativity to popularize their research project.

Juliette Humeau, postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer at UdeM, won the Public Prize.
