“I think it’s nice to be in the third round. But I’m certainly not going to the Grand Slam thinking that I want to win the third round and that I’ll be satisfied with that. I would definitely like to look further,” Muchová said.

The semifinalist of last year’s Australian Open won the first set thanks to two breaks in 42 minutes. She praised herself for being aggressive enough during it. “But then my opponent took a toilet break and I lost my concentration a little bit. She caught on and started playing very well,” commented Muchová in the second set, when she got the canary.

However, the difficult situation did not deter her. “I didn’t think regarding it like that. I don’t even think that when it’s 0:6, that it’s some kind of slip-up. She played well and I had a few chances that I didn’t take. I didn’t take it to heart that it would knocked down,” she pointed out.

In the deciding set, Muchová was already 100 percent on serve and thanks to two breaks, she broke the duel from 3:3. “I had to add a little and I managed to return to what I played in the first set. I was more aggressive and went to the lines more. As I managed to break her, it broke and maybe it broke in her too,” she said Muchova

After a successful first set, the 43rd player in the world also requested time for treatment. But no injuries bothered her. “I just had a really dry throat and kept coughing, so I wanted them to give me some lozenges. Later I thought it made me sleepy, but of course I’m exaggerating. They were just lozenges so I wouldn’t cough so much, ” she said with a smile.

Karolína Muchová advanced to the 3rd round at the French Open.

She will face the tournament’s twenty-seventh ranked Beguová for the third time, she lost both matches. After this year’s defeat in Madrid, the Romanians will try to avenge their elimination from Roland Garros four years ago.

“She’s very uncomfortable on clay, she plays great on it. I think that’s her favorite surface. But I wasn’t in the best mood in Madrid,” added Muchová, who has advanced to the 3rd round as the only Czech participant so far.
