The result of this match did not have the slightest impact on the classification of the Remparts (2-1), already guaranteed to finish the preliminary round at the top, synonymous with participation in the final.

Thanks to this victory, the Petes (1-2) will take part in Thursday’s tiebreaker match.

The Ontario Junior League champions will face off once morest the loser of the game between the Kamloops Blazers (1-1) and the Seattle Thunderbirds (1-1), who will face off Wednesday at the conclusion of the preliminary phase.

We tried to prepare for the best game possible, but human nature always catches up with us at some point, said Patrick Roy. The Petes played with urgency, and on our side, we didn’t have the same urgency. We mishandled the puck.

Goals from James Malatesta and Nathan Gaucher were not enough for the Remparts. William Rousseau for his part blocked 25 shots, before Quentin Miller repelled 7 in relief.

Tucker Robertson, JR Avon, Avery Hayes and Connor Lockhart scored for the Petes. Michael Simpson meanwhile made 26 saves in the win.

Midway through the second period, Robertson scored the first goal of the game, on an assist from Brennan Othmann.

The Petes then doubled their lead during an offensive overplay. Avon completed a nice play by Chase Stillman, who gave him the puck to the right of the goalie. He quickly shot to make it 2-0.

« We tried until the end. We were up once morest a team that had their backs once morest the wall. The game meant a lot more to them [les Petes] only for us. We will rest over the next few days and prepare for the final, regardless of who our opponent will be. »
