The city of Villa Allende, in Greater Córdoba, is moved by the serious incident that occurred on the night of Tuesday, May 30, when a man was kidnapped at gunpoint from his house next to the La Paloma neighborhood.

The event happened around 9:35 p.m. when Luis A. Figliozzi (62) was getting out of his silver-gray Citroën C4 car in front of his house at 1791 Guayaquil Street, Loma Sur, moments when he saw four criminals arrive and managed to warn his wife.

The men threatened him with a firearm, then put him in the car and drove him for several kilometers.

The kidnapping occurred in front of the eyes of his family, who were at home at the time. Given the situation, both Figliozzi’s wife and the neighbors alerted the local police and the municipality.

In this regard, Felipe Crespo, Secretary of Government of the municipality of Villa Allende, said that the criminals entered through a piece of land, crossed Luchesse avenue in front of the La Morada neighborhood, and went out onto Guayaquil street, which overlooks an open field.

“The criminals walked in,” he said. Figliozzi told them that he had no money, and so they put guns on him and put them in the car. “Some neighbors chased them, but then they lost sight of him,” said Crespo, who called the Police Department and alerted them to the kidnapping.

“A great police operation was mounted. This happened in real time. The thieves were lost, because they did not know the area,” said the official.

Figliozzi was released in a field on the border with Córdoba and they took the car and his belongings: a wallet, 6,000 pesos and a computer. “He did not lose his cool and managed to handle the situation,” he remarked.

The kidnapped man managed to get home on foot, since the thieves left him more than a kilometer from the place where he was “lifted” with the car.

The Police searched the area but did not find the criminals or the car. The neighborhood is patrolled by a police mobile and he is moved by the serious situation that the family had to go through.

an unsafe area

The place where the incident occurred is a country area and “crime is handled with impunity. They always walk by”, warned the municipal government secretary.

Now, the municipality is installing cameras for greater security, and with the Police “we are going to make an entry, with the permission of the owners, to patrol,” he said.

In turn, he stated that the local police station only has two cell phones for a population of more than 50,000 inhabitants and “we have 10 kilometers of borders with neighborhoods in Córdoba such as Villa Cornú, Villa Allende Parque, and the settlements behind San Isidro, and from there the criminals enter,” he said.

In addition, he said that they do not have “provincial security”, and the effort made by the municipality to fight crime is gigantic. “We invested the money in something that should belong to the Province,” she pointed out.
