Today, Wednesday, the Russian army announced the destruction of the ship “Yuri Oliverenko”, which is the last warship of the Ukrainian Navy in the port of Odessa.
“On May 29, the Russian Air Force destroyed with a high-precision weapon the last warship of the Ukrainian Navy, Yury Oliverenko, in the port of Odessa,” the Russian defense statement said regarding the conduct of the special military operation in Ukraine.
The warship “Yuri Oliverenko” is a landing ship, formerly known as “Kirovograd”, and then renamed in 2016 in honor of a Ukrainian soldier who was killed in 2015 near the city of Mariupol, overlooking the Sea of Azov.
In June 2022, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky honored its crew for its “heroism” in defending the country in the face of Russia’s massive military offensive.
The ship was also used in 2014 to evacuate Ukrainian soldiers following the annexation of Crimea by Moscow.
Intercept HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles
In terms of military operations, the Russian Ministry of Defense said that air defense systems intercepted 12 HIMARS missiles and a British Storm Shadow missile.
According to the daily press report of the ministry, the fiercest battles are now taking place in the Avdiivka region on the Donetsk axis.
The ministry indicated that regarding 70 Ukrainian soldiers were killed on the Kobyansk axis, more than 50 Ukrainian soldiers on the Krasny Liman axis, more than 200 on the Donetsk axis, and 30 on the Kherson axis, during the past 24 hours.
The ministry stated that the storming units of “Ahmed” forces began carrying out successful offensive operations on the Marinka axis.
