Last September, Wim Janssens (37) and his lover Joyce Van Roosbroeck (36) were killed in a terrible road accident. The couple were seated in the back of a Porsche Panamera. They were returning from a wedding. But their fate changed when they were only a few hundred meters from their home in Koningshooikt, not far from Mechelen.
Suddenly, the vehicle they were in hit a roundregarding. With the speed, the car took off and crashed regarding ten meters further, before coming to rest on the roof.
Despite the arrival of help, it was too late for Wim and Joyce. They died on the spot. Four other people, including the driver, were seriously injured.
Nine months following the events, the Nieuwsblad announces that the driver had, that evening, offered to be “Bob”. He was supposed to get everyone back to safety. But the reality was quite different. According to our colleagues, he had indeed drunk at least nine beers during the evening and had 1.8 grams of alcohol in his blood, well beyond the authorized limit. He was also driving at 135 km/h where the limit is set at 70…
The investigation is still ongoing and the prosecution declined to comment on these new elements.
