Recently, a 26-year-old British male tourist insisted on playing stand-up paddle (SUP) in the rain. Unfortunately, he was struck to death by lightning. His girlfriend took pictures on the beach and witnessed the whole process. There were also enthusiastic people who tried their best to save the man’s life, but they were still unable to save his life. In this regard, the Greek authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
according to《Rodiaki》According to reports, it was raining outdoors at the time, and the man was sitting on his SUP board floating. Although other tourists reminded him not to go into the water, he still did not listen. Unexpectedly, around 1:30 in the followingnoon, the rain gradually became heavier. He was still playing SUP boards at sea, while his girlfriend took pictures of his boyfriend on the beach. A lightning bolt struck near where he was, and the man was directly hit. Soon following, the girlfriend broke down and began to ask for help. A 47-year-old resident took the man to land and authorities were called to the rescue.
The resident said that when he realized what was going on, he dropped his cell phone and jumped into the sea to save people without taking off his clothes. “As soon as I approached him, I saw him soaking face down in the sea, and his face turned black! Knowing that every second counted, I started pulling him to the shore. I was afraid that I would be struck by lightning too, because it was still raining, but I didn’t stop.”
The resident said that when he rescued the man and began to give him first aid, he might vaguely hear the man’s heartbeat and pulse. After the ambulance personnel arrived, they rescued the man with CPR and sent him to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, there was no way to recover. Once the Rhode Island Port Authority becomes aware of the incident, key officials will begin an investigation into this tragic incident.
according to“Guardian”A spokesman for the Rhode Island Port Authority said this was a special case and might not provide further details at this time. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office said: “We are learning regarding a British man who has died in Rhode Island and are in touch with local authorities.”
