The summary
For 20 years we have been helplessly witnessing the continuous deterioration of France’s trade balance, whose deficit is expected to exceed the sad record of 160 billion euros in 2022.
The recent crises have only worsened a situation born of the policy of deindustrialisation assumed for 40 years and whose consequences have been underestimated, placing France in last place in the European Union.
Our trade deficit is not only an obstacle to France’s economic resilience to economic shocks. It also raises the question of our dependence on other countries and our sovereignty.
If the France Export Team, set up from 2018, constitutes progress in supporting VSEs, SMEs and ETIs in exporting, it can in no way compensate for the absence of a national strategic vision. It must be accompanied by a coordination of public policies influencing the competitiveness of our companies.
Faced with the urgency of a leap forward to get our country out of this impasse in terms of foreign trade, the Business Delegation is formulating ten proposals defining the framework of a real public strategy.
