Very unnoticed and with almost no resistance, the city deducted 40,000 euros from the 5020 youth festival. Dear Mayor Preuner, are only the festival guests important and valuable in this city? Our youth have just survived years of social isolation due to Corona. The consequences can be seen every day in my work as a counseling teacher and psychotherapist. You have to do everything you can to send the message to the young people: “You are important to us! You are the future! We want to set an example by putting together a lively festival for you!” But it is probably asking too much to spend 40,000 euros on the needs of young people.
I am writing these lines because those affected have little to no lobby to advocate for them. I hope that these 40,000 euros will now be used for a lavish Kaiviertel festival, since the money is obviously not enough for both, and an either/or question has arisen from it.
