Helena Noguerra was 10 when her sister Lio found success with the song Banana Split. A period of which she does not keep only good memories. “At first, it’s charming. You have your sister releasing a record, it’s great. And then comes this success which was phenomenal at the time. All of a sudden, at school, it arouses jealousies, it arouses problems, so I become an object of curiosity when I haven’t decided anything. It’s not my doing so it’s complicated”explains Helena Noguerra who put an end to her schooling at the age of 15 to become a model. “That’s why at 15, it was good to leave school. For this reason, but also because at 15 I was already 1m79 and I had an imposing physique. (… ) The other kids, that body in their midst attacks them, so it creates things that are very unpleasant. When I become a model, my body is justified, it is no longer a subject, it is loved for what that he is and he has a function.”

Helena Noguerra then revealed the consequences that the success of her sister Lio had on their family life. “What was very complicated is that it upsets the whole economy of a family. It’s abysmal changes like that, a kid who earns a lot of money in a modest family. All of a sudden, it creates tension and attention. At 10, you’re under construction and the light is elsewhere so it’s hard to find your place. It was fortunate for me to leave at 15 to become a model. To meet other pains of course, but I needed to meet other things.
