When Borussia was only runners-up in their own stadium on Saturday with a 2-2 win over Mainz and the Bayern snagged the title at the last minute with a 2-1 win in Cologne, and fans and players in both arenas were overflowing with emotion following the final whistle.
Despite the vice failure, almost 30,000 fans in Dortmund’s yellow wall celebrated their stars, comforted them and thanked them for the – overall – strong Bundesliga-Saison.

Then Reus’ admission follows: “I know you called me to you – but I was too broken at that moment to come into your arms. Nevertheless, with your positive reaction, you made it clear to me what is worth fighting for.”
And finally, Reus writes that the club will also put up with this setback with the help of the fans: “Yes, it hurts, yes, we haven’t been that close for a long time – but: Anyone who knows me, this club and you BVB fans, who knows we will get back up, keep working and fighting – just like this great club has always done! Thanks.”
The lost championship was also a heavy blow for the fans. But Reus’ words should also help to heal the wounds of BVB supporters over time.
