Will GoMo launch roaming and 5G at 14.95 francs in Switzerland?

GoMo is strong in Ireland!

It was by chance that I came across GoMo.ie, a brand of Eir Telecom, that is to say belonging to the sphere of Xavier Niel. Same logo, same colors and same visuals, with a 5G offer, unlike what is done in Switzerland where lower prices are still applied!

In March 2023, “GoMo, the revolutionary Irish digital mobile brand, announced that all new customers and customers of the €14.99 package will now have access to 5G data speeds,” according to A press release of GoMo.ie.

A paid switch to 5G

Going through the home page, one is redirected to sections of the site which show that this operator has offered different tariff plans from 9.99 euros to 12.99 euros and then to 14.99 euros. We might therefore imagine a relaunch of the offer at 14.99 Swiss francs with 5G, 14GB of roaming, calls abroad as well as the possibility of updating for old customers…

GoMo Ireland is absolutely correct in explaining this: “To use 5G you must have a 5G capable phone. Are you happy with our €9.99 or €12.99 packages and don’t want to upgrade to 5G? This is completely normal, your package will remain unchanged! You will continue to benefit from the excellent 4G service that you use today”.

What limits?

Currently, GoMo Switzerland offers a speed of more than 300 Mbits / sec at most (two different figures appear on the site), which is insane (!) and up to a limit of 100 GB. But what does this limit actually mean? I conducted the survey in my family subscriptions… Even the biggest “streamers” have not exceeded 90 GB in the last six months (with 5G) by combining use in Switzerland and abroad. So being careful, this limit seems quite correct!

By now offering its website in four languages, as we have seen recently, GoMo seems to be giving positive signals. It remains to be seen whether Salt, the owner of the brand, will follow the example of Eir Telecom or whether it will adapt the model to Switzerland. By the way, the activation fee is 14.99 euros unless I am mistaken. We are far from certain rates charged in Switzerland…
