Lula highlighted the ties that were maintained between Brazil and Venezuela before Jair Bolsonaro came to power and that, during the government of the far-right politician, the economic and commercial relationship with Caracas collapsed.
“I am in favor of Venezuela integrating the Brics (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa). We are going to meet soon and we have to evaluate various requests for integration,” Lula said.

He recalled that an extremist model was applied to Venezuela according to right-wing ideology and continues to be applied. From Brazil, all the doors and windows were closed and an attempt was made to invade, recognizing a non-existent government, he added.
“Hopefully no one ever closes the doors between Brazil and Venezuela once more,” said President Maduro. He also reaffirmed that his country is ready to receive investment and business from Brazilian businessmen.
He also pointed out that Venezuela’s intentions to be part of this entity are due to wanting to participate in the construction of new international economic policies.
