Until June 7th, Vienna will once once more present itself as a playground for young companies with unusual ideas, so-called start-ups. According to its own statements, the ViennaUP’23 is the largest in Austria. People from 70 nations are there.

Start-ups, investors, technology enthusiasts, creative people and visionaries should come together at the festival. People with ideas that often sound crazy at first should be given a chance to get ahead and maybe even implement their ideas. At 50 events, around 200 investors can also look for talent or business ideas in order to be able to convert them into economic success.

Several focal points, many topics

The festival offers several focal points, including, for example, “Experience culture and technology”. This is regarding the diverse possibilities for connecting culture and technology. The organizers chose “the artist Gustav Klimt and the creative business woman Emilie Flöge” as famous role models. In the footsteps of the well-known Viennese lovers, there is The Future Ball, a mixture of party and networking where innovation, art and technology come together. This also includes the field of AI, i.e. artificial intelligence.

Spectacular opening at Karlsplatz

The fact that one of the world’s largest start-up competitions from the USA is represented in the city also shows that Vienna can definitely keep up with other cities as a start-up city. Here the Austrian participants are selected, who then fly to the USA and can fight for an investment sum of one million US dollars.

The start-up festival takes place at 27 locations in twelve districts, from the Hofburg to the Spittelau waste incineration plant, the Haus des Meeres and traditional coffee houses. It will open on Tuesday with a show on Karlsplatz, the festival’s central meeting point. According to the organizer, streets should be transformed into a stage on which mystery and wonder unfold. Under the motto “Proud to Ride”, figures made of light, air and various materials parade past the visitors as a homage to the symbol of the festival, a reared horse.
