Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad, Nasser Bourita, told the House of Representatives on Monday that his department organized a total of 172 trade missions to and from Morocco during the year 2022.
The ministry also contributed to the organization of 150 economic forums and sectoral exhibitions and to the establishment of 145 commercial liaison operations for the benefit of Moroccan and foreign investors, indicated the minister, in response to an oral question from the National gathering of independents around the theme “strengthening economic diplomacy”.
In addition, the ministry intervened as a mediator between Moroccan and foreign operators, with a view to resolving 51 commercial disputes, he underlined.
The role of this department is also reflected in the signing of 95 economic conventions, noted Mr. Bourita, noting that Morocco currently totals 1,400 economic conventions relating to areas such as investment and trade, which constitute as many tools made available to Moroccan economic operators.
Economic diplomacy is an important part of the Kingdom’s foreign policy as outlined by HM King Mohammed VI, he highlighted, recalling that Morocco’s strength lies in its diplomatic network, made up of 105 embassies and 57 consulates, which contributes to the promotion of the Morocco Label and the assets and potentialities of the Kingdom.
