Overwork at work has the risk of promoting cardiovascular disease. However, sometimes death from overwork in the workplace is not the main cause of the trigger, and it may also be caused by personal living habits. “Reference Guidelines for the Identification of Occupational Causes of Cerebrovascular and Cardiac Diseases” was compiled in 1991 and has been revised many times so far. Among them, the causative part of cerebrovascular and heart diseases, in addition to the original diseases or predisposing factors, the precipitating factors have been tested by medical research. Those recognized include trauma, physical constitution, eating habits, temperature, smoking, drinking, drug effects and workload, etc.

In addition, it is mainly to consider the accumulation of fatigue caused by long-term overwork, including taking the 6 months before the onset as the assessment period of overwork, the assessment standard of working hours, and listing specific factors of work load, including working hours and irregular work , shift duties, late-night duty, working environment, business accompanied by mental stress, etc.

Zou Zilian, director of the Occupational Safety and Health Department of the Ministry of Labor, said that the guidelines are determined through the identification of occupational medical associations and other countries that promote cerebrovascular and heart diseases. People themselves have 3 highs, and the possibility of triggering related diseases will also be higher.

Zou Zilian pointed out that the overwork death of workers during work may indeed be related to the workers’ own family inheritance or even bad personal living habits. Therefore, this guideline returns to scientific discourse rather than personal expression.
