Today, Saturday, May 27, the Miguel Sancho stadium is celebrating its 75th anniversary since its inauguration. This scenario was presented in a friendly match where Racing beat Belgrano 4-3.

The stadium is located at 1750 Herman Huberman street and currently has four grandstands (a south end, a north end, a side stand and an audience divided into high, low and preferential) giving a total capacity of 15,000 spectators.

Since the promotion of the “Academy” to the First National, the cast led by Carlos Bossio fell only once at home and it was once morest Estudiantes de Caseros 1-0.

The club’s website tells that story. “It was exactly on May 27, 1948, but like any such work, many things happened until it was finished. The ‘Acade’ had been playing in the Unión Telefónica field, located on the street between Potosí, 87, Cochabamba and 87 since June 28, 1936. Although some details were missing when the field was inaugurated, the bathrooms and changing rooms so the players went to the old field, changed and from there they returned to the new one”.

He also told the reason for the name: “On May 9, 1976, under the presidency of Mario Spirópulos, the stadium was given its own name: Miguel Sancho, in recognition of his 24 years as president and all the years he dedicated to Racing. ”.
