More of 72 kilos of maximum purity cocaine were discovered by Customs hidden in beds and bedside tables that arrived from Bolivia. The furniture and that were transferred by a logistics company and the value of the drug exceeds a million dollars.
Specialized Customs agents were carrying out routine checks when a shipment from a logistics company caught their attention: There were nine parcels of bedside tables and beds that raised doubts, for which they decided to inspect it using the scanner method.
That examination yielded images of the furniture in which double bottoms and rectangular packages were distinguished. At the same time, he also inspected them with dogs, which presented behavior compatible with the presence of drugs. It was then that Customs personnel notified Federal Court No. 1 of Jujuy, and the retention and opening of the packages was ordered.
Once the nine wooden pieces of furniture are open, 69 hidden packages of cocaine were found: the final weighing yielded a result of 72,383 kg. After the operation carried out, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office ordered to recondition the furniture and replace the drug packages with other similar ones, so that the shipment might continue towards its destination in Buenos Aires.and thus be able to proceed to the arrest of those who were going to receive them.
Already in CABA, with the assistance of the National Gendarmerie Three people were arrested when they wanted to remove the furniture from the offices of the transportation company. All of them were made available to Federal Court No. 1 of Jujuy; while the Federal Prosecutor’s Office continues with the investigation.
