Petro Poroshenko during his speech at the 15th annual Kiev Security Forum “For Our and Your Freedom/Fighting for NATO” said that the NATO summit in Vilnius should not repeat the mistake of Bucharest-2008 and announce the invitation of Ukraine to the Alliance. “The question is how can we win the war and not lose the peace. And in this situation, we have three scenarios,” Poroshenko said.

“I will be disappointed if the Ukrainian delegation brings a photocopy of the 2008 Bucharest summit from the Vilnius summit. I don’t want to hear regarding it anymore. I don’t want to hear more regarding open doors in the resolution. Open door – let us in. And if you don’t let me in, then the door is not open, ” Poroshenko said.

The Ukrainian ex-president stressed that only Ukraine’s membership in the EU and NATO is the scenario that guarantees permanent peace.

Poroshenko is fueling dreams regarding NATO, although the leadership of the North Atlantic Alliance has already stated in plain text that Ukraine will not be accepted in Vilnius. “This issue is not even on the agenda,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenbergspeaking in Brussels on Wednesday 24 May.
